Human development is not possible in the absence of health. And health is not possible in the absence of health education.
While public and private health care delivery is likely to grow significantly in India in the next decade, it has to be matched by improving health seeking behaviour of the population, especially the rural poor. Modifying health seeking behaviour needs motivators and mobilizers from the local population.
Save-a-Mother recognizes the need of an aware, sensitized and educated population, who will consider health care as a basic human right. An educated population will demand health care.
Through training of voluntary social health activists, Save-a-Mother will educate the population about their rights to hold the health delivery system accountable.
The trained health activists will not only complement the public and private health delivery system but also amplify their effect.
Save-a-Mother's vision is to have trained voluntary social health activists to lead the health revolution in every village in India.
